Multipurpose logistics system for modern army HAMMAR
Modern military operations require modern technology that can react quickly, change tasks and function in any environment. One vehicle, one driver and the ability to act as a loader, transporter, mobile crane and mobile repair unit. This is how it is easy to describe the philosophy and capabilities of the HAMMAR container sideloader, which has developed from a civilian logistics tool into a full-fledged multifunctional military support system for the use of individual types of troops.
Multitasking in practice – when one vehicle can do it all
The HAMMAR sideloader can not only handle ISO containers, but also handle vehicles, platforms or other cargo. Thanks to its modular design and powerful hydraulic crane arms, it can safely handle loads weighing up to 45 tons, even in terrain where conventional handling equipment would not stand a chance. This makes one truck a versatile platform that can load and unload standard and special containers in the field, move other vehicles or special equipment, function as a mobile service and repair crane and, if necessary, also serve as a mobile rescue or evacuation vehicle.
Mobile repair truck with overhead crane function
HAMMAR as a mobile repair vehicle equipped with a service beam with a winch, performs the function of a repair crane (for repairing tanks, replacing engines of military vehicles, etc.). The winch can move 5 meters horizontally along the lifting beam, the winch moves 4 meters up/down and lifts up to 10 tons. It therefore works like a bridge crane. Once the work is done, the unit can load the mobile service container and move on another place. If the vehicle cannot be repaired, it can be lifted, loaded and transported to another location using a loader.
Stacking and space efficiency
The HAMMAR system allows containers to be stacked to the height and depth of two rows, significantly saving space at bases and logistics hubs. This is especially important in field conditions, where it is necessary to maximize the use of a limited area while maintaining accessibility to the material. The ability to place containers on two levels also increases the protection of supplies and equipment – for example, in floods, in dusty environments or when improvised cover is needed.
Rapid mission change without depending on infrastructure
One of the main benefits of the HAMMAR system is the immediate readiness to change the task. If the logistics priority changes, for example from replenishing supplies to moving critical material, the vehicle can unload the current cargo, load a new container or equipment and continue to a new destination in a matter of minutes. All this without the need for any external lifting device. It therefore works fully autonomously, anywhere, at any time. This capability significantly increases the flexibility of the units and enables immediate response even in a dynamic operating environment.
Ready for the terrain, confident in any situation
Thanks to the stabilizing booms and the low center of gravity, handling is safe even on unpaved surfaces. At the same time, everything is operated by only one driver, which reduces personnel requirements and increases the efficiency of deployment. The hydraulic system and robust construction guarantee a long service life even in extreme conditions, from desert areas to arctic environments.
Alliance Compatibility
The HAMMAR system is fully compatible with ISO containers and STANAG military standards, which guarantees interoperability within NATO as well as during international exercises and missions. Thanks to HAMMAR's global presence on all continents, worldwide service support and quick availability of spare parts are ensured, which significantly increases operational reliability and minimizes the risk of equipment failures. In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the HAMMAR brand, which dates back to 1974, is represented by CONTSYSTEM Group SE, a specialist in logistics and special handling equipment, covering comprehensive services in the field of sales, assembly and service activities.
HAMMAR in the service of armed forces around the world
HAMMAR sideloaders are currently used by dozens of armed forces around the world, in various areas of military logistics and individual types of troops. They are used, for example, for unloading other transport vehicles, transporting fuel or water container tanks, mobile kitchens or field hospitals, or as a mobile crane for repairing vehicles in field conditions.
The Czech Army invests in modern logistics technology
Last year, the Army of the Czech Republic received 16 new sideloaders – 12 trucks with HAMMAR 190 HB sideloaders and 4 sets (semi-trailer and tractor) HAMMAR 110 HC with a telescopic chassis for containers with a length of 20-45 feet. This purchase represents an important step towards streamlining and modernizing military logistics, which significantly strengthens the ability of the Czech Army to operate flexibly and self-sufficiently, even in challenging conditions.
Flexible partner for military logistics
Modern military logistics is no longer just about transporting cargo from point A to point B. It requires the ability to react quickly, self-sufficiency and operational autonomy. HAMMAR meets these requirements down to the last detail – it is a single vehicle that can handle the entire range of logistics, service and rescue tasks. Thanks to their versatility and durability, HAMMAR sideloaders are becoming an indispensable element of mobile tactical logistics of the 21st century, whether in field conditions or in operations within alliance cooperation.
