The 3rd annual Military Police Chief’s Shooting Competition took place on June 23 at the Dukla Plzeň Army Shooting Range. This year, 28 two-person teams competed, representing the Military Police, the Czech Army, the Czech Police, the Pilsen Municipal Police, and, for the first time, the Military Police of the Slovak Republic. It was the participation of our Slovak colleagues that gave the competition its first-ever international dimension.

The competition was organized by a team composed of members of the Military Police and the Military Police Active Reserve. Over the course of several days, the team set up seven tactical shooting scenarios inspired by real-life situations that members of the armed forces and security services may encounter while on duty.

The individual disciplines were designed to test the competitors’ overall readiness. In addition to accurate shooting, the two-person teams had to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, divide tasks appropriately, make quick decisions, and exhibit physical endurance. The competition included dynamic building entries, evacuating the wounded, firing various types of weapons, completing tasks under time pressure, and operations in a “killhouse” using FX training ammunition.

Great emphasis was placed on cooperation between the two team members. In many situations, it was not just marksmanship that was decisive, but above all the ability to communicate with one another, correctly assess the situation at hand, and choose the most effective course of action. In addition, some events combined shooting with physical exertion or the need to carry an 80-kilogram dummy over obstacles.

This year’s competition also featured a greater variety of modern weapon systems and training equipment. Competitors worked not only with service weapons but also with captured weapons, ballistic shields, and equipment designed for dynamic building entries. The goal was to simulate, as faithfully as possible, conditions that correspond to current security threats.

Teams from the Police of the Czech Republic performed best in the challenging events. The victory went to the Brno Special Riot Control Unit team, consisting of Senior Sergeant Z. M. and Sergeant V. B. Second place went to members of the Rapid Deployment Unit, and third place went to members of the Temelín Special Unit.

However, the significance of the competition lay not only in the final standings. The gathering of members from various armed and security forces created an opportunity to exchange experiences, compare tactical procedures, and establish professional contacts. It is precisely this sharing of skills gained from daily service that represents one of the main benefits of this competition.

The uniqueness of this year’s event was also underscored by the prizes awarded to the winners. For the first time in history, the winning team received CZ P-10 C OR pistols, which were donated to the competition by Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod. Material support was also provided by a number of other partners from the defense and security industries, whose support significantly contributed to the high standard of the entire event.

The organizers also expressed their appreciation for the cooperation of the Dukla Plzeň Army Sports Club, which provided the facilities for the shooting and tactical competition. Thanks to the professional approach of everyone involved, the competition has successfully established itself over the past three years as a staple among specialized events for members of the armed and security forces.
